CATHY TROWER, PhD: Currently at Harvard University, Cathy is nationally known for her  governance expertise on board policies, leadership, structure, organizational change, best practices, the chair-CEO relationship, strategic planning, and moving boards from fiduciary oversight, to a strategic asset, then to providing leadership. With over $3.5 million in grant support from the Ford Foundation and others, her research is extensive. Formerly a senior executive for Johns Hopkins University’s business programs, she also has an MBA in addition to her PhD.  When she’s not working, Cathy can be found at her home of 100 acres of heaven in New Hampshire or traveling with her husband of 13 years.
CHRIS BOGDEN: With a background from Cornell and Harvard Universities, Chris is now in private practice applying change leadership in organizations. His career has focused on  the most challenging of change situations including moving diverse constituencies towards the cutting edge of educational reform, as well as being VP of the Edison School system and developing operations across the Northeast. He now specializes in working with organizations and coaching leaders as they pursue unique, mission-driven agendas including executive/board communication, collective bargaining, strategic planning, team building and leadership development. He is also qualified to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and is a certified facilitator for the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.
DON SCHMINCKE (founder):  Author of  The Code of the Executive, Don's unusual groundbreaking work has been endorsed by Steven Covey, Brian Tracey, and featured by CNN, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. A graduate of MIT and Johns Hopkins, Don is the resident mad-scientist at the Institute and  internationally recognized as a top speaker by the largest CEO organization. He has traveled extensively including the former Soviet-bloc, Africa, and Asia in order to research his topics. He has hosted the Executive Insights cable series, The Leader’s Code radio program, and is now working on new books on tribal leadership and bio-evolutionary relationships. Occasionally Don can be found at MBA programs wreaking havoc on leadership theories and inflicting his unconventional techniques on innocent graduate students.

GLENN WARING: Glenn has been accused of being one of a few organizational consultants with CFO experience. His Cornell MBA couple with his CPA has helped him counsel CEOs effectively since 1992. Glenn is a Chair of TEC, an international CEO organization with 8,000 members around the world, and pursues many endeavors including co-editing a book on infrastructure development for the Urban Land Institute as well as various lectures on organizational behavior and finance. Previously, Glenn was Vice President of the Nationwide Insurance Group; council Vice Chairman within the Urban Land Institute; Development Director for Downtown Columbus, Inc.; trustee of the Jung Association of Central Ohio; and board member of a local staffing company.
 

JAMIE RICE: Chief Strategy Officer and executive at Carton Donofrio Partners (CDP), Jamie has drives the brand and strategy consulting division established in 1997. CDP designs brand experiences from the outside-in by truely understanding a client’s customer in order to develop better brand experiences. CDP's subsidiary, Context-Based Research Group, uses a proprietary network of over 3,500 anthropologists around the world to uncover cultural and consumer insights and deliver better market research by integrating ethnography into marketing and communications strategy. Over the years, Jamie has been responsible for a wide range of consumer, business-to-business and institutional clients. Jamie is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in business administration.
JILL PENALOZA: A licensed psychotherapist, Jill brings the unusual combination of therapy and a corporate background to help drive leadership and change to new and deeper levels. Jill has worked extensively with various levels and types of organizations throughout her career. Jill resides in Annapolis with her husband.
JOHN PAUKSTIS: John brings to the Institute CEO expertise from his successful development of Mission, Values, and executive team at McBee Systems, Inc. resulting in double-digit growth from 1996 to the end of 2000, thereby growing the business from $56 million to $80 million in four years.  Additionally, he led the start up of two new business segments the transition from private to public ownership. His national assignments for almost 40 years in manufacturing, new product introductions, and the ability to develop teams and people has given John a broad knowledge and experience in growing profits AND market share is a variety of industries.  Mr. Paukstis has been a member and facilitator for TEC International, a membership organization of  12,000 members in 14 countries, on 6 continents.  John has also spent a lifetime of participating in physical fitness activities such as competitive tennis as well as recreational biking and hiking.  During the past 14 years he has developed a fitness program that includes diet and exercise programs to improve fitness and reduce stress and is a certified yoga instructor.  After receiving a graduation certificate, Mr. Paukstis provided volunteer yoga instruction to newly released prisoners with substance abuse addictions in Philadelphia during 2001. To further contribute to the need for community service, Mr. Paukstis facilitates strategic planning for Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Maryland.
LISA NORRIS: Lisa is the Office Manager and Personal Assistant to Don. Coming from years of experience in professional office management and support, Lisa has continued to take on broader roles in keeping the Institute running efficiently. Her coordination and leadership has been essential in ensuring affiliate and client activities are administered effectively, and trying to anticipate Don's hectic schedule. She lives in Baltimore with her son
MATT PLOCIAK: Matt is our seasoned entrepreneurial CEO bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to leadership and strategy. He has founded companies such as Exel Computer Centers (one of the first computer retailers in Metro NYC), Netlan Interactive (an Inc. 500 company), and LinuxMatix, Inc. (developing cutting edge technology designed to manage Linux-based systems). Today he is a Chair of 2 CEO groups in New York City for TEC, a global CEO organization of over 8,000 CEOs. Matt received a BS in Business Administration in Economics from Bryant College and an MBA from the University of Minnesota,.  He was also a Research Fellow at Management Information Systems Research Center, and a Corporate Fellow at University of Minnesota, Graduate School of Business. 

ROBBIE BLINKOFF, PhD: Robbie broke new ground in 1999 when he co-founded Context-Based Research Group to help marketers and product designers fully understand how brands fit into the lives of customers through the power of ethnography. Context has put its innovative, deeply qualitative approach to work for a number of leading companies, including Procter & Gamble, Adobe Systems Inc., Campbell Soup Company, Microsoft, The Eastman Kodak Company, American Express, Bristol Myers Squibb, GuinnessUDV and LeapFrog Toys®, among others. As principal anthropologist, Robbie oversees the research design and analysis that lead to provocative trend discoveries in the consumer and business-to-business arenas. In addition, Context conducts and publishes its own proprietary research on topics ranging from the use of wireless technologies to consumer responses to the events on September 11. Dr. Blinkoff’s unique insights and pioneering research have been featured on CBS’ The Early Show as well as in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, Newsday, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Philadelphia Inquirer, among others. Robbie holds a doctorate in anthropology from Rutgers University, where his dissertation focused on ideas of ownership among hunter-gatherers in Papua, New Guinea.

SUE NISSEL: Sue heads up AccuBusiness Solutions, the outsourced partner for all of the Institute's financial management needs. She and her staff function as controller and CFO
 

SUSAN BARRETT : From the Potomac Consulting Group, Susan  has extensive experience in organizational change, coaching, behavioral profiling,  teambuilding and strategic planning, with clients including National Steel, Harley Davidson, US Steel, and DuPont. She enjoys developing leadership, culture, systems, processes, and hiring practices for world class organizational performance. Susan has degrees from Western Maryland College and Johns Hopkins University in Applied Behavioral Science, with a concentration in Organizational Development. She lives in Bethesda with her husband and three children.

UMAR HAMEED : Founder and president of Neuro-Linguistic Programming Institute of Maryland (NLPMD), a consulting firm specializing in empowering companies and individuals to realize their full potential.  Before NLPMD, Umar founded three companies including Gecko Sales & Marketing which launched domestic and foreign hi-tech firms in North America.  His client roster included Altec Lansing, ebook systems, HP, and several governments (Taiwan, Korea, and Singapore) for helping successfully establish sales channels in North America. He also launched the first Multimedia Notebook computer in North America, invented iJAM convergence device linking video gaming units to computers, gave technology briefing to President Clinton's team at the White House, and helped take Celestix Networks took sales from launch to $20M.
