How do the cards work?
Each set of cards comes with instruction on how to use them. We've included the instructions here for your reference:
INSTRUCTIONS: These cards provide a way to make your meetings more powerful. Every meeting is not perfect, and unproductive behaviors may occur. When that happens, however, exposing that behavior can be awkward. These cards allow everyone to safely signal when an unproductive situation occurs, and to process a quick resolution.
HOW TO USE:
1. Make sure every attendee brings their card pack to the meeting.
2. Start the meeting with the group's agreement that:
A. When anyone senses an unproductive behavior occurring, they will select the card for that particular behavior from their card set and throw it on the table.
B. When someone throws a card, the meeting halts temporarily, and the light side (front) of the card is read to the group.
C. The group assesses together if that behavior is happening.
i. If no, clarify what was really happening and then resume the meeting.
ii. If yes, then read the resolution on the dark side (back) of the card and processes that step as a group, then resume the meeting.
3. Have fun with this. When people feel safe to communicate the real issues, then real work happens.
